I asked some time ago to Joey, the reasons for that ‘religious’ thing of the first material and we talked a lot during the final hollidays about this. We created enough material for this little ‘introspective note’ here on the website. So here we go.
A simple and direct explanation about the album ‘Born’ first solo album from Joey Summer. Joey speaks about the reasons for this thematic debut album.
I was screaming inside for something that had real meaning in my life, to give me the exit I ever needed. I was basically lost.
But the most impressive about all this: I was living all that I had already written for the album NASCER. Almost in a macabre way, everything I wrote as if it were purely fictional in my life is fulfilled!
Then the album was an auto-biographical. I could not ignore it and went to the end.
This is why it is an album focused religious issues and questions of man to God. I am not ashamed of this album, no way! It was frighteningly real in my life. As if I had lived as Freud for some time. Using LSD to try to understand what I could not see clearly.
Today I know that people will be listening and reading my own story in this world, every time they pick up the album to play. This is a good thing and good things deserve longevity.
But I live today other questions from other times and I have the freedom to write about other issues and dilemmas of humanity to which I belong
For this reason, WOTH is not seen as a Christian album. (for those who love to label types of music) It will be seen as an album of moments, the day-to-day. Something will identify it with you, with your stuffs, for sure. This is because I don’t wrote it alone. I am very proud and mentally free to be a writer of songs that have lived much of what I wrote. This will make everything to sound real for the listener.”
